My name is Richard Hunt. I was lucky enough to be 1st Mate on Double Take with Russell Hunt from 11 thru 13 October 2010. I first boarded Double Take in Stamford, CT at a marina just inside of the Long Island Sound. After a full nights sleep we pushed off the dock at sunrise enroute for Cape May, NJ. The trip was as easy as it gets and the ride was very enjoyable. The views through NYC were amazing including the construction of the Freedom Towers and the Statue of Liberty. Once outside of Long Island sound the winds picked up to about 10-15kts and the seas were about 2-3' chop. Double Take had no problems at all and we arrived in Cape May around 2pm. After a great night at the marina restuarant and bar and many swordfishing stories from the locals we left Cape May just after sunrise on the 12th enroute for the Baltimore Inner Harbor via the Delaware Bay and C&D Canal. It was a typical Delaware Bay crossing with winds 15-20kts and seas 3-4'. Again Double Take excelled and provide a smooth, dry, and quiet ride through conditions that were an obvious challenge to the many larger boats we passed with ease. We tied Double Take up to her slip by 1230pm in the Baltimore Inner Harbor with an unbeatable view of downtown Baltimore. All in all the trip was just awesome. I spent 2 nights on board and about 14 hours behind the helm of Double Take and could not be more impressed. The capability of this design is simply amazing especially when compared with the V-hulls I grew up on. Call me anytime and I will be happy to come on as 1st Mate again.
